How To Set an Intention For Manifestation (Tips and Tricks)

We create our own reality, causing things to manifest such as landing one’s dream job, getting into a graduate degree program, or finding that one special soulmate. Intention is powerful, yes, but it is not the only thing we need to get what we want to manifest – and manifest fast.

As Brenna Yovanoff writes in The Replacements, “Intention is one of the most powerful forces there is. What you mean when you do a thing will always determine the outcome. The law creates the world.” This, in essence, is the law of attraction. Intentions carry us through life, and things – whether positive, negative, or somewhere in between – happen as a result because that is what our energies attract to us.

Manifestation starts with learning how to set intentions. Many people find that writing them down is helpful, at least to start with. With some attention to your intention, you can learn how to manifest the things you want and need in life. Just check out these tips for how to get started.

1. Clarify Your Wants

When you’re confused about what you want, so too is the universe. When you are clear about it, so too is the universe. It responds to our energy, our thoughts, our feelings. Step One in how to set intentions is to be clear about what you want.

Working on intention from a place of fear will only create more fearful things, per the law of attraction. If you know what you want, be clear about why you want it. Cleansing and balancing your chakras can help alleviate your worries as a part of clearing your mind and helping you understand why you want something.

Unsure of why you want something? Ask yourself some questions! Try asking something like:

Why do I want to manifest a career as a novelist? Do I want the freedom to write as I wish?

or

Why do I want to manifest a new vehicle? Will it be more reliable than my current one? Will it have better features or fuel economy?

Don’t be afraid to ask yourself challenging questions! Part of learning how to set intentions is engaging in discourse with yourself. Besides, the law of attraction works on your current wants, not the feelings of your future.

3. Be in a Positive Relationship With Your Wants

Relationships are not exclusive to other human beings. As a matter of fact, you are in a relationship with all the energy of the universe. Your vibrations dance with the vibrations of all other entities.

Think about it this way: When you are in a relationship with a romantic partner, how you respond to their wants goes hand-in-hand with how they respond to yours. If you demand they pay for your wants but do not satisfy their want for an emotional connection, then they might not be so inclined to give you what you want.

Manifestation works the same way. If you do not have a healthy relationship with money (for example, if you spend it frivolously), the energy of money will be less inclined to vibe with you. Therefore, you will not see money manifest fast like you want it to.

If you set your intentions and they don’t show up, engage them by asking questions. Try:

What is stopping you from showing up when I try to manifest you?

or

Is there something you need in order to manifest?

4. Believe In It

Your intentions are not yet tangible in your reality, so you must believe in them to make them so. If you don’t believe in what you’re writing down or saying to yourself, then you are only going to attract the opposite. That’s another key element to the law of attraction. If you cannot convince yourself of your intention, how are you possibly going to convince the universe?

The truth is, you can convince yourself of your intention, even if you don’t really believe in it at first. Learning how to set intentions involves actually believing in them!

So, what’s holding you back? Are there negative, doubtful thoughts getting in the way? Are you thinking to yourself, “I can’t make a better job opportunity come my way” or “I’m not worthy of that pay raise”?

Find your center. Set forth some affirmations and repeat them until you really believe them. Negative thoughts are manifested through repetition, and the same holds true for positive ones. In psychological terms, this is cognitive re-framing. In laymen’s terms? Lather, rinse, repeat!

5. Embrace It As Being Real

Intentions can manifest fast once you embrace them as being real. That’s part of thje law of attraction. Learning how to set intentions involves accepting the knowledge that the things you want are tangible. They exist within the universe and are on their way to you.

There’s this marvelous quote from the original Santa Claus movie, spoken by an elf named Judy: “Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” Just because you cannot see something in front of you doesn’t mean it isn’t real. The same holds true for intentions. Per the law of attraction, you can make intentions manifest fast by knowing innately that they exist.

Believe and you will see.

6. Act As Though It is Already True

The law of attraction holds that you can make intentions manifest fast by acting as though they’re already true. Knowing how to set intentions is all about how you choose to act.

Acting as though your intentions are already true puts the vibe out there that connects you with this intention. You draw it in more quickly. You have no reservations, so it doesn’t either. Figuring out how to set intentions boils down to drawing them into yourself. They can manifest fast if you act like they’re already there.

It is simple, but this involves casting away your doubts, clearing your chakras, and allowing yourself to believe.

The law of attraction is all about reciprocation and cognitive re-framing. It might be difficult to comprehend the law of attraction at first, and learning how to set intentions can take time… and belief.

You can make intentions manifest fast, but it all comes down to how you choose to think, feel, and act. Act as if they’re already real, and they will come to you.
